SHIFT

Help & Support

SHIFT is a day-of timeline app for event professionals. Build your run-of-show, run it live, and when things run late the Ripple Engine recalculates everything in real time so you always know what’s next.

Getting startedBuild your first timeline

1

Create an event

Tap + on the Events screen and add a title, date, and venue. Pick a venue and SHIFT automatically pulls in sunset, golden-hour, and weather for that day.

2

Add timeline blocks

Add blocks for each moment — ceremony, cocktails, golden-hour photos, dinner. Set a start time and duration, and add notes, a color, an icon, or a voice memo.

3

Tune each block

Mark must-not-move moments as pinned, set a minimum duration for blocks that can compress, and link dependencies so related blocks move together.

4

Go live

On the day, open the Live Dashboard. Complete blocks as they happen, and if you’re running behind, apply a shift — the engine recalculates the rest of the day instantly.

The core ideaHow shifting works

When one thing runs late, everything after it is affected. Instead of redoing the math by hand, you tell SHIFT how late you are and it ripples the change down the timeline — compressing flexible blocks to protect the moments that can’t move (like golden-hour photos). Try it:

Ceremony is running…
Standard block Flexible (can compress) Pinned (won’t move)

This is a simplified illustration. The real engine also detects collisions, respects per-block minimums and dependencies, and updates your live view, watch, and any shared vendors automatically.

What’s insideFeatures

🌅

Sunset & weather

Golden-hour, sunset, and a venue weather forecast, pulled in for the date you choose.

Vendor sharing

Invite vendors to a read-only view of the timeline and see who’s acknowledged changes.

Apple Watch

Glance at what’s next and shift the timeline right from your wrist.

📄

Templates & export

Reuse timelines as templates and export a post-event report.

📴

Works offline

Everything runs with zero signal — the venue’s dead zone won’t stop you.

🎙️

Voice memos

Attach a quick voice note to any block; recordings stay on your device.

CollaborationSharing with vendors

1

Add the vendor

Add the vendor with their name, role, and a phone number or email.

2

Send the invite

From Invite Vendors, tap Invite — SHIFT opens a pre-filled message (or email) with a join link. The invite is locked to that phone or email.

3

They join

The vendor taps the link, installs SHIFT if needed, and signs in. The shared event appears in their list, read-only.

4

Stay in sync

When you shift, they see it live and tap to acknowledge. You see their green check on your acknowledgment grid.

AnswersFrequently asked questions

No. You can build, run, and complete timelines completely offline with no account. You only sign in when you want to sync across your devices or share a timeline with vendors.

SHIFT sends a one-time code to your email address — enter it and you’re in. There’s no password to remember.

First make sure you’re signed in with the same phone or email the invite was sent to. Then, on the Events list, pull down to refresh — that fetches the latest shared events and changes from the server. Check your connection if it still doesn’t appear.

A pinned block is anchored to its time and won’t move when you shift. Use it for moments tied to the real world — sunset photos, a ceremony start, a venue curfew. The engine compresses flexible blocks around it to keep it on schedule.

A flexible block can shrink to absorb time when you’re running late. Setting a minimum duration tells the engine how far it’s allowed to compress before it warns you that the schedule no longer fits.

Each vendor has a notification threshold. When a shift moves their relevant blocks by more than that threshold, they get a push alert — even if the app is in their pocket — and the change is waiting for them to acknowledge.

No. Vendors get read-only access. They can view the timeline and acknowledge changes, but only you (the owner) can edit it. Vendors also see full notes only for the blocks they’re assigned to.

Open the event and tap into the Live Dashboard. Mark blocks complete as they finish, and if you’re behind, apply a shift in minutes — the rest of the day recalculates and everyone sharing the timeline is updated.

When you choose a venue, SHIFT sends only the coordinates and the event date to Apple WeatherKit (forecast) and sunrise-sunset.org (sunset / golden hour). No personal information is sent.

The free tier covers a limited number of active events and blocks. SHIFT Pro removes those limits and unlocks vendor sharing, the Apple Watch app, widgets and Live Activities, templates, and document export.

Go to Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. Subscriptions are managed in your App Store account settings.

Your timelines live on your device so the app works offline. When you sign in, they also sync securely to our backend so you can use multiple devices and share. Voice memos stay on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Deleting an event removes it everywhere it’s synced; deleting the app clears its local data from that device. To delete your account and associated data entirely, email us and we’ll take care of it.
