SHIFT

Help & Support

SHIFT is a day-of timeline app for event professionals. Build your run-of-show, run it live, and when things run late the Ripple Engine recalculates everything in real time so you always know what’s next.

Getting startedBuild your first timeline

First, create your account: choose Continue with Email or Continue with Phone, type in the one-time code we send, and add your name to finish your profile (if you signed up with a phone number, we’ll also ask for an email). Then set a passcode to unlock the app and you’re ready to build.

1

Create an event

Tap + on the Events screen and add a title, date, and venue. Pick a venue and SHIFT automatically pulls in sunset, golden-hour, and weather for that day.

2

Add timeline blocks

Add blocks for each moment — ceremony, cocktails, golden-hour photos, dinner. Set a start time and duration, and add notes, a color, an icon, or a voice memo.

3

Tune each block

Mark must-not-move moments as pinned, set a minimum duration for blocks that can compress, and link dependencies so related blocks move together.

4

Go live

On the day, open the Live Dashboard. Complete blocks as they happen, and if you’re running behind, apply a shift — the engine recalculates the rest of the day instantly.

The core ideaHow shifting works

When one thing runs late, everything after it is affected. Instead of redoing the math by hand, you tell SHIFT how late you are and it ripples the change down the timeline — compressing flexible blocks to protect the moments that can’t move (like golden-hour photos). Try it:

Ceremony is running…
Standard block Flexible (can compress) Pinned (won’t move)

This is a simplified illustration. The real engine also detects collisions, respects per-block minimums and dependencies, and updates your live view, watch, and any shared vendors automatically.

⏱️

Live execution

Run the day from the Live Dashboard, complete blocks, and shift on the fly.

🌅

Sunset & weather

Golden-hour, sunset, and a venue weather forecast, pulled in for the date you choose.

👥

Vendor sharing

Invite vendors to a read-only view of the timeline and see who’s acknowledged changes.

🔔

Shift alerts

Affected vendors get a notification when a change is big enough to matter to them.

Apple Watch

Glance at what’s next and shift the timeline right from your wrist.

📄

Templates & export

Reuse timelines as templates and export a post-event report.

📴

Works offline

Everything runs with zero signal — the venue’s dead zone won’t stop you.

🎙️

Voice memos

Attach a quick voice note to any block; it syncs across your devices and to vendors you’ve shared with.

CollaborationSharing with vendors

1

Add the vendor

Add the vendor with their name, role, and a phone number or email.

2

Send the invite

From Invite Vendors, tap Invite — SHIFT opens a pre-filled message (or email) with a join link. The invite is locked to that phone or email.

3

They join

The vendor taps the link, installs SHIFT if needed, and signs in. The shared event appears in their list, read-only.

4

Stay in sync

When you shift, they see it live and tap to acknowledge. You see their green check on your acknowledgment grid.

Find & get foundThe Marketplace

The Marketplace tab connects planners with vendors. What you see depends on your account type — planner or vendor — which you can switch any time under Settings → Account. Profiles are Verified by Shift: stats like events completed and reviews come from events actually run in the app, not self-reported.

🔎

Find vendors

Search by category and region, filter by a date to see who’s available, and save the ones you like for later.

🏪

Become a vendor

From Settings, create your profile — business name, category, service area, bio, skills, and portfolio photos — and choose whether to be listed.

✉️

Requests & chat

Planners send a service request; vendors accept or decline, and you message each other in-app to work out the details.

Verified reviews

After working together through Shift, planners leave a rating and review that shows on the vendor’s profile.

📅

Availability

Vendors mark busy dates; bookings made through Shift are reflected automatically so planners see real availability.

🛡️

Safe & respectful

Report anything objectionable and block a user from a profile or chat. We review reports and act on them.

Shift helps planners and vendors find each other — any booking, payment, or agreement is directly between you. The Marketplace needs an internet connection; your timelines still work offline.

AnswersFrequently asked questions

Yes. SHIFT signs you in with a one-time code sent to your email or phone, then you set a 6-digit passcode to unlock the app. Once you’re signed in, your timelines work fully offline — your account keeps them synced across your devices, lets you share with vendors, and powers the Marketplace.

Tap Continue with Email or Continue with Phone and enter your email or number. SHIFT sends a one-time code — type it in and you’re in. There’s no password to remember, and the same step works whether you’re new or returning. The first time, you’ll add your name and create a passcode.

Every SHIFT account needs a name and an email so we can reliably identify and reach you. If you sign up with a phone number, we’ll ask you to add an email once to complete your profile. Email sign-ups already have one, so they’re not asked for a phone number.

After your first sign-in you set a 6-digit passcode that unlocks SHIFT each time you open it, so your events stay private on a shared device. You can also turn on Face ID or Touch ID for one-glance unlock — your biometric data never leaves your device. Manage both under Settings → Account → Privacy & Security.

On the lock screen, tap Forgot passcode?. SHIFT signs you out and you sign back in with a one-time code (sent to whichever method you use), then create a new passcode. Your events are kept — you won’t lose anything.

For quick access during an event, SHIFT skips re-locking if you return within a few minutes of leaving it — so popping out to your camera or texts doesn’t mean a Face ID every time. After a longer break, or a fresh launch, it always asks again. Keep your device secured during an event.

First make sure you’re signed in with the same phone or email the invite was sent to. Then, on the Events list, pull down to refresh — that fetches the latest shared events and changes from the server. Check your connection if it still doesn’t appear.

A pinned block is anchored to its time and won’t move when you shift. Use it for moments tied to the real world — sunset photos, a ceremony start, a venue curfew. The engine compresses flexible blocks around it to keep it on schedule.

A flexible block can shrink to absorb time when you’re running late. Setting a minimum duration tells the engine how far it’s allowed to compress before it warns you that the schedule no longer fits.

Each vendor has a notification threshold. When a shift moves their relevant blocks by more than that threshold, they get a push alert — even if the app is in their pocket — and the change is waiting for them to acknowledge. Vendors are also notified when you assign them to a block and when an event goes live.

No. Vendors get read-only access. They can view the timeline and acknowledge changes, but only you (the owner) can edit it. Vendors also see full notes only for the blocks they’re assigned to.

Open the event and tap into the Live Dashboard. Mark blocks complete as they finish, and if you’re behind, apply a shift in minutes — the rest of the day recalculates and everyone sharing the timeline is updated.

When you choose a venue, SHIFT sends only the coordinates and the event date to Apple WeatherKit (forecast) and sunrise-sunset.org (sunset / golden hour). No personal information is sent.

The free tier covers a limited number of active events and blocks. SHIFT Pro removes those limits and unlocks vendor sharing, the Apple Watch app, widgets and Live Activities, templates, and document export. Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.

Go to Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. Subscriptions are managed in your App Store account settings.

Your timelines live on your device so the app works offline, and they also sync securely to our backend so you can use multiple devices and share. Voice memos sync too, so collaborators you share with can hear them. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Deleting an event removes it everywhere it’s synced; deleting the app clears its local data from that device. To permanently delete your account and all associated data — events, your vendor profile and photos, requests, messages, and reviews — go to Settings → Account → Delete Account right inside the app.

It’s where planners and vendors find each other. Planners search for vendors, save favorites, send requests, and message in-app; vendors create a profile and get discovered. Profiles are Verified by Shift — stats and reviews come from real events run in the app. Any booking or payment happens directly between you and the other person.

Go to Settings → Account, switch to a vendor account, and set up your profile: business name, category, service area, bio, skills, and portfolio photos. Toggle “List me in the marketplace” when you’re ready to be discovered — you can unlist any time.

Open their profile and send a service request with your event details. If they accept, you can message back and forth in the app to sort out the specifics. You’ll get a notification when they respond.

After you’ve worked with a vendor through Shift, you can leave a star rating and a written review on their profile. Because reviews are tied to events actually run in the app, they can’t be faked — that’s what makes a profile “Verified by Shift.”

On a profile or in a chat, use the report option to flag objectionable content, or block a user to hide their content and stop further contact. We review reports and remove offending content or accounts. There’s zero tolerance for objectionable content or abuse.

A planner builds timelines and searches for and books vendors; a vendor has a marketplace listing and receives requests. You pick one when you sign up and can switch under Settings → Account — switching to a planner hides your vendor listing (with a grace period before it’s removed).
